Our Team

The Anesthesia Medical Group Inc. physicians are comprised of highly skilled anesthesiologists with a diversity of clinical training and experience. Our physicians with IMG have graduated from residency, fellowship and specialty training programs at leading institutions.  We enjoy working with and providing anesthesia services to the islands of Hawaii.

Ashley Black, M.D.

Dr Black is from St. Petersburg, Florida. She received her BA in economics from Wake Forest University and then her medical degree from University of Florida College of Medicine. She completed her anesthesia residency at Stanford University. She practiced for almost 2 years in the San Francisco bay area before moving to Hawaii and joining TAMGI. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their two chocolate labs. 

Kevin Burnes, M.D.

Dr Burnes received his BA in Biology from the University of Virginia, and his  MD from Medical College of Virginia.  He completed residency training in anesthesiology at Oregon Health and Sciences University.  In his spare time he enjoys spending time with family and surfing.

Jason Bluth, M.D.

  • Originally from from Dallas, Texas, Dr. Bluth graduated medical school from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He joined IMG after completing his residency training in anesthesiology at the University of Hawaii and Duke University. He enjoys kiteboarding, hiking, and spending time with his family.

Travis Bond, M.D.

Dr. Bond completed undergraduate degree at Seattle University, medical school at Creighton University, anesthesiology residency at University of Utah, and pediatric anesthesia fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s. In his free time, he enjoys keeping up with his wife and four daughters in their many adventures.

Mark Etter, M.D.

Dr. Etter received a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky, an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, then an MD degree and Anesthesiology specialty training from theDr. Etter received a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky, an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, then an MD degree and Anesthesiology specialty training from the University of Virginia. In his free time he enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, golfing, wine tasting, the symphony, and splashing in the ocean. University of Virginia. Nicholas Goehner, M.D.

Dr. Goehner received his BS in Biology and Physiology from the University of Washington in Seattle. He earned his MD from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He completed residency as well as fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center and R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, where he was Chief Resident and recipient of the Robert D Dripps Memorial Award for Excellence in Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Goehner enjoys spending time with his young children, cooking, and fixing things up around the house.

Kevin Kern, M.D.

Dr. Kern earned his BA in English and Chemistry at Amherst College and went on to earn his MD at UT Southwestern.  He received his specialty training in Anesthesiology at University of Florida and stayed on factilty after his training for 3 years before coming to Maui in 2001 to care for an ill relative.  He has been here ever since and has really come to appreciate the people and the lifestyle. 

Christopher Merritt, M.D.

  • Dr. Merrit earned his BS at Georgetown University and MD from Duke University. He completed residency training at the University of Hawaii and Duke University. Originally from New Orleans, Dr. Merritt practiced there for 6 years after completing his training. He moved back to Hawaii in 2017 to join IMG. He and his wife have two kids and enjoy exploring Maui’s incredible natural beauty.  

Kimberly Milhoan, M.D.

Dr Kimberly Milhoan is a graduate of Stanford University, with a B.A. in Human Biology, with a concentration in Public Health and Health Administration. She worked as a health care management consultant for American Practice Management before obtaining her medical degree from the University of California Davis School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her anesthesiology residency, as chief resident, at the University of Health Science Center in San Antonio. She was an assistant professor and then assistant clinical professor at UTHSCSA, specializing in pediatric cardiac anesthesia, until her move to Maui, and has since continued regular locums tenems care in pediatric anesthesiology at mainland children’s hospitals. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology, and a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiology. She is the president and co-founder, with her husband Kirk Milhoan, MD, PhD, FAAP, FACC, of For Hearts and Souls, a non-profit specializing in the international care of children with congenital heart disease.

Todd Miller, M.D.

Dr Miller received his BS in microbiology from Idaho State University and went on to earn his MD from The University of Washington School of Medicine. He received specialty training in Anesthesiology from The University of California at San Diego. He went on to serve his country as a Major in the United States Army where he supported Operation Desert Storm. He loves everything having to do with the ocean; an avid fisherman, open water swimmer, and paddler.

Arjun Reddy, M.D.

Dr. Reddy received his BA in Psychology and BA in History from New York University. He went on to earn his M.D. from The University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey - New Jersey Medical School, which is now an affiliate of Rutgers University. He received specialty training in Anesthesiology from Stonybrook University Medical Center. With an interest in cardiac anesthesia he subsequently pursued sub-speciality training at The Cleveland Clinic with a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology. He loves contemporary art, movies, and spending time with family and friends. 

Bryan Smith, M.D.

Dr Bryan Smith is an Anesthesiologist with more than 25 years of experience. His career began in San Diego, and progressed to Honolulu where he worked at Queens Medical Center for 5 years and served as the President of the Hawaii Society of Anesthesiologists. He came to Maui in 2006 and has worked diligently to improve anesthesia and surgical care for the people of our beautiful islands. On Maui, he has served as President of his medical group, Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology, and since 2017 was chosen as the only practicing physician to serve on the Maui Health System Board of Directors, representing the voice of medical providers striving to give the best possible care to all people in Maui county.
Dr Smith received a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from The University of California at Santa Barbara. He graduated with an M.D. degree from the St Louis University School of Medicine, where he was privileged to be named to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. After post graduate training in Internal Medicine in Silicon Valley, he completed his residency in Anesthesiology at The University of California at San Diego, where he served as Chief Resident.Following training, Dr Smith was a Major in the US Air Force. He spends his free time on Maui enjoying moments with his family, learning and practicing sustainable agriculture, kite surfing, and scuba diving.

Nathan Smith, M.D.

Dr. Smith obtained his BS in biology at South Dakota State University before attending Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota. He went on to residency at the University of Utah before receiving specialty training during his Cardiothoracic Anesthesia fellowship at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

Thomas Spallino, M.D.

Dr. Spallino received his medical degree and completed internal medicine residency at Creighton University. He went on to complete residency and fellowship training in cardiothoracic anesthesia at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He has enjoyed a dedicated career in Maui, serving twice as department chair. He enjoys surfing, golfing, wing-foiling, and walking his dog.

Mike Trakas, M.D.

Dr Trakas received his BS in biology from the University of Nevada, Reno and went on to earn his MD from the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Following his intern year in Nevada, he moved to Tucson AZ where he trained in Anesthesia at the University of Arizona. He went on to join a private practice group in Tucson. Wanting to be closer to family, he now lives in Maui. He loves skydiving, hiking, swimming, paddling, fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, driving fast cars and hitting the gym.

Daniel Vo, M.D.

Dr. Vo graduated summa cume laude from Vanderbilt University with a B.S. in Molecular Biology and minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. He taught high school Math and Physics at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT before obtaining his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He completed a Pediatrics Residency at Columbia University in New York, New York and he completed his Anesthesiology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to do a Pediatric Anesthesia and Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia Fellowship at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Prior to joining IMG he worked at Boston Children's Hospital and was an Instructor in Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School."

Alex Wakshinsky, M.D.

Dr. Washinski attended the University of Miami where he completed his bachelors degree in Biology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. From there, he completed residency training in Anesthesiology at the University of Massachusetts Memorial school of medicine. He completed fellowship training at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial in cardiothoracic anesthesia. He enjoys the mountains and the beaches of Maui. Some of his hobbies include cycling, woodworking, and water sports, which he enjoys doing with his wife and three keiki.
